I had opened the door to the hatchery and it seemed like it was staying open even though I later touched one of the lamps and turned them off. I quit the game actually closed it from the main menu and when I came back the hatchery door was closed. So I had to run through the whole lamp sequence to open it again which turned out to be unnecessary, but still.
